COVINGTON,
GA. – Patricia Roberts,
42, of Covington, Ga., has been selected as a grant
recipient of the Fallen
Patriot Fund, established by the Mark
Cuban Foundation, to help families of U.S. military
personnel who were killed or seriously injured during
Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Thus far, over $70,000 has been given to six
families since the fund’s inception on April 16.
Roberts
will receive $20,000 from the Foundation to assist with
living expenses and the cost of raising her
granddaughter Christian
Constance Addison, 3, and grandson Jamaal
Rashard Addison II, 2, after her son Army
Spc. Jamaal Rashard Addison, 22, of Decatur, Ga., was killed near
Nasiriyah, Iraq, March 23. Army Spc. Jamaal Rashard
Addison was assigned to the 507th Maintenance
Company in Fort Bliss, Texas.
“It
is an honor to have the support, it makes things so much
easier. I
am trying to find a home for my grandchildren, and this
has been a blessing to us because I can actually obtain
a place for us to live that is going to be
satisfactory,” said Ms. Roberts. “I would like to
let other families know that although unimaginable
tragedies happen, there are foundations out there that
not only offer their prayers but assist with necessities
such as finances. This offers us so much comfort.”
Donations
to the Fallen Patriot Fund are still being accepted and
can be made at any of the 4,200 Bank of America banking
centers; through the Web site at
