MARK CUBAN’S FALLEN PATRIOT FUND GIVES GRANT TO GRANDMOTHER IN AZ

Fund Has Approved Over $242,000 in Grants To 16 Families Since April 16

DALLAS - Priscilla Piestewa of Tuba City, Ariz., has been selected as a grant recipient of the Fallen Patriot Fund, established on April 16 by the Mark Cuban Foundation, to help families of U.S. military personnel who were killed or seriously injured during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Piestewa will receive $15,000 from the Fund to assist with living expenses and raising her grandchildren Brandon Whiterock, 5, and Carla Piestewa, 3, after her daughter, PFC Lori Ann Piestewa, 23, was killed in An Nasariyah, Iraq, on March 23. PFC Piestewa was the first Native American (Hopi) to be killed in action in United States history.

PFC Piestewa was assigned to the 507th Ordinance Maintenance Company (Patriot) based in Fort Bliss, Texas. Piestewa was posthumously promoted to Specialist.

""We, the Piestewa family, would like to extend our gratitude to the Mark Cuban Foundation's Fallen Patriot Fund for the support, the love and the generosity they have extended to our grandchildren and others," said Priscilla Piestewa. "Thanks also to Miss Rougemont from Bank of America in Flagstaff (Ariz.) and Mr. Brian Cuban for being the loving, caring, beautiful people they are. In addition, I would like to remind everyone to remember to tell those you love how much you love them every day. I wish a safe and happy holiday to all. Thank you very much." "
